Pre-release PimpZilla 4.0
An early version of the next incarnation of this glorious theme is available for download @ pimpzilla.nl. (I’ve been trying to upload the pre-release of PimpZilla 4.0 to the official Mozilla site, but it’s too busy over there).
PimpZilla 4.0 is build from the ground up. No cutting & pasting of the old code, it is completely rebuild with the original firefox-code. That’s a lotta work, and i haven’t finished it yet: the new Pimpzilla hasn’t got the same level of excellence as you might had gotten used to, but it is good enough to browse with nonetheless. You can allready see the outline of some very stylish innovations, such as the urlbar and searchbox …
Expect regular updates @ this site!
P.S. Thanx for the donation Caroline and Robert. Support from fans like you inspire me to keep on developing!

Ahhh thanks a 1000 for the update… my browser is shining again… i’ve been running FF3 for months and was was really beginning to miss the pimpzilla look!!!!
June 18th, 2008 at 7:44 pm
First of all…. huge thanks for the work and spirit you put in Pimpzilla. Beatiful and practical skin indeed.
Second… a request… its possible to include a fix that create a 2º (3º, 4º, etc) Tab Bar… because when I open multiple Tabs, the “second bar” of Pimzilla is in blank!! :S
Here a screenshot of what I mean, in case you don’t understand the request.

Firefox asked me to update pimpzilla today, and since i did pimpzilla is very distored the edges of the bars are off/under neath buttons and the icon in the address bar is squished
June 19th, 2008 at 1:22 am
http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/400/image1nz4.jpg, the tabs are distorting marjorly as well/getting taller/having gaps, i’ve tried other themes they are fine it’s just this new one, it’s always been great before
June 19th, 2008 at 1:29 am
didnt have firefox 3 haha nevermindddddd
June 19th, 2008 at 8:12 am
I’m suffering the same problem as comments 6 and 7, plus an extra, distorted, ebay companion button and I can’t see the bottom half of anything I type into the search box.
June 19th, 2008 at 8:29 am
You should probably alert people that the new version doesn’t work properly unless they have Firefox 3 installed. The distortions are pretty bad.
June 19th, 2008 at 8:32 am
Also, even with Firefox 3 the tabs in the Options menu are screwy.
June 19th, 2008 at 8:37 am
Hi,
I had the same problems as everybody above but the steps below solved it for me.
You should
1: uninstall the old pimpzilla theme. (dont upgrade over the old one)
2: Check if you have FF 3.0, if not upgrade
3: Install the new version.
Then all you problems are gone.
Thank you for the Theme. I love it!

**Another error: The “New Tab Button on Tab Right” button is transparent. Dunno if this was also the case with FF2 since I only now added it since the upgrade to FF3.
Good lookin’ on tha BETA. Just dl’d FF3, and was totally missing PimpZilla (if only for a .5 hour, however, desperately) before I stumbled upon it.
Can’t wait for tha proper re-up!!!
June 19th, 2008 at 9:59 am
**One more: No drop down Forward/Back history.
June 19th, 2008 at 10:28 am
I’d got pimpzilla 4.0 as an automatic upgrade, not realising I needed Firefox 3.0 (or even that there *is* a Firefox 3.0). Anyway, all sorted now, cheers!
June 19th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Thank you!! I wouldn’t upgrade to Firefox 3 until I knew Pimpzilla was ready!
June 19th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Oh thank you!!
I forgot that it wouldn’t work with Firefox 3, and I had to do without Pimpzilla for about 36 hours - and it was absolutely gruesome. Thanks for being so quick with your update XD

Hey, how about forcing the text color? Using linux version, the text is unreadable if the gtk theme is a light text.
June 23rd, 2008 at 9:51 pm
First of all, thank you very much for still working on this great golden and shiny thingy!
I just wanted to let you know about some minor problems with FF3 and 4.02, propably GTK-related. When I hover over an item in the main menu, it just disapears, if I click on it, the background turns grey, but there still is no text.
To illustrate the problem a bit more, I gimped to screenshots into one to show both effects: http://img295.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pimpzilla402hd0.jpg
Keep up the great work,
Daniel

Hi again!
Just noticed another little glitch that does not appear with the default-theme: http://img237.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pimpzilla4022lf6.jpg
Thanks!
June 26th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
Hy, thanks for the great work and the FF3 version! It love having my favorite theme back (I’ve been using FF3 since Beta 2 and was missing PimpZilla quite a lot). I’d just like to add that I can confirm the Problems Daniel mentioned on Linux: Main Menu Item Text disappears on hover, keeps unreadable when clicked and Comboboxes as well as Spinners look weird.
June 26th, 2008 at 3:36 pm
I love your theme! it’s great!
waiting for the 4.0 tree icons… they are still blank but - equal! I love it!
July 2nd, 2008 at 7:56 pm
Please make it compatible with Tab Mix Plus! these 2 are my favorite addons!

Your fine, fine jewelers have been to work on my browsing hoes; their DTDs leak all over on seeing that fine bearskin finish and leopard trim with ice. The only time the blood has time to harden in my trim is when I have that design-noir.de skillet’s…or maybe it’s native to Firefox 3.x, but he sure can make it shine…Show All Tabs. The grid of pages come up, but it comes gimpy and all; their default height before they load is like 1/5 what it should be, maybe 10 pixels like the Favicon height was! Please oh please get along with my skillets’ working.
My hoes can make the bliss bloom in the satineers, the furriers, the field-service jewelers, the recontextualizers; the dimensions just have to match up all right.

I’ve installed FF3 and the latest PimpZilla release. I’ve got something like that: http://tinahpro.free.fr/bug-pimpzilla.jpg
Thanks a lot
July 14th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Thankyou, i adore this theme!
July 21st, 2008 at 9:46 am
Hi,
I also adore the glamorous Pimpzilla skin,
but seems it’s not working properly together with Tab Mix Plus Add-on -
the tabs look “broken” (you can see the printscreen at http://ipicture.ru/uploads/080721/2vXIRaYW6S.jpg)
With other skins, it’s OK.
Hope you can fix it soon…
Dank u wel!!
July 23rd, 2008 at 7:10 pm
**Just DL’d 4.04. Still no drop-down Forward/Back arrows; a very useful feature. A shame.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
This is top! Love the instalation instructions too, keep up the good work!

Thanks for the king of FF themes. My girlfriend refused to update to FF3 until Pimpzilla was ready. Now that she’s upgraded there is one thing we miss. The old version let the leopard print show through the tabs, sure they were hard to read that way, but it looked great. Would love to see some leopard print even when I’ve got ten tabs open. Perhaps there is a simple tweak I can do to make it happen?
Thanks again!
September 1st, 2008 at 1:26 am
I figured out a little userChrome.css tweak that gives me the leopard print I need between my many tabs.
#content tab:not([selected=”true”]) {
padding-left: 10px !important;
margin-right: 10px !important;
min-width: 95px !important;
}
#content tab:[selected=”true”] {
min-width: 150px !important;
}
enjoy

Tab Mix Plus and Pimpzilla make ugly tabs together.
